This post serves two purposes. One, to gloat over the fact that I've been ITM in my last...wait for it....wait for it...TWO SNG's. I know, calm down, you'll have your chance. I've been running bad lately, and I think the last two tournaments have been great for my confidence. I've played well, had some hands hit, basically what I've expected from myself.

Also, I'd like you look at a few hands and tell me what you think. There aren't too many "lost at the showdown" hands...(I think I was 7/8 at one point at the showdown) but there are a variety of hands I'd like you to critique for me. Sure, I won this one, but a part of me would like to win another one /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyways, here they are. PokerStars Limit 5+.50 SNG

Did I get lucky here. Was the flop bet correct? The turn bet? Finally, do you check the river? I put villain on Qx and figured he was going to call regardless.

I'm pretty confident on my play post-flop. Obviously getting odds to the OESD. Should I be tossing this preflop either before or after the raise? I figure I'll have decent position to play soooted connectors, and after he raises now I'm getting odds.

This guy played about as straight-forward as possible. If he calls, I'm certainly beat and go into check-fold mode. But, I'm guessing unless he has an A or a K (he for one would have raised with A, he capped my TT with A2o HU) or any pocket pair, he'll fold. Agree with this bet?

One more. For all you bad beat lovers out there. /images/graemlins/smile.gif It's HU, I just about have him finished. And he does this to me. Schmuck.

No complaints from me tonight. Unlike last night where I nearly cursed the guy out when his A2s flushed away my AA. I just shook my head and focused on outplaying him, which I honestly think I did.

I apologize for the length of this, but like I said, I just want to improve. If anyone can offer insight on ANY of these hands, that would be wonderful. As always, good luck at the tables....unless you're at my table of course.

This post also serves two purposes. One to bump /images/graemlins/smile.gif

And the other to let you know I'm chezeman. In case you couldn't tell. You should also see my avatar in Stars. Quite possibly the ugliest picture on that site right now.

I tried prettying it up, but the converter doesn't seem to give stack sizes, so I went with the ugly way instead.

I also much prefer the cleaned up info fwiw. My thoughts:

Hand 1:

I think your play is good. I might have limped preflop because of small blind size but I think raising may well be better.

I bet the flop as well although it is a horrible flop for you. I think with two callers you will be behind most of the time.

Perhaps a check on the turn would be better, hard to say definitively but to me it is unlikely that both are drawing and the made hands have you beat most likely. Especially with people playing weak aces. I check the river as well.

Hand 2:

Well played, I play preflop and the flop the same. I might try for the check raise on the turn but perhaps leading out is better due to flush draw?

Hand 3:

I would have led out at the flop or as a second alternative check raised. I think folding here is a bit weak tight. You have a pair an inside straight draw and a "tainted" overcard. For me that is plenty for a bet three handed.

Hand 4:

I bet here as well. It would have been easier to sell a big hand if you had raised preflop which I would have considered given you are the big stack and your description of your opponent.

Hand 5:

Unlucky.

Thanks La Brujita. My thoughts on your thoughts. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

1. I obviously wanted to represent the A. I probably should have checked the turn, but at the time I decided my only chance to win the hand was another bet. On a side note, I was thrilled to find someone at my table calling a raise PF, and then calling me on the flop and turn with A and Q out there as he held 44 waiting for his two-outer. Brilliant.

3. You really think the bet and or check/raise do anything for me? Sure, I have a pair, but bottom pair on a "high" board. I feel the chances that someone has Q or J are good. Also, I can't imagine my K being outs. I may be giving my opponents too much credit for holding a T...but it seems like my attempts to be aggressive have blown up in my face recently. I'll look at this one more.

4. I wouldn't raise him. He'll call my raises in the BB with almost anything. He was one of two guys I had a decent read on. Incredibly loose-passive. He could have T5o and would call my raise, so I figured I'd see what the flop brought and go from there.

5. Oh, so I played it OK? I was thinking of folding to his reraise PF because he might have AA. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
