Its a $20 SNG at Party and I've got a nice stack (2000) with 4 of us left. Blinds are 100/200 and Short stack has 550. I get a free play in the big blind heads up w/ chip leader, flop top two pair, and check raise the chip leader all-in. Bad to risk a sure 3rd place or good because if I win I'm headed for 1st?

Here's the full hand:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed)

Hero (t2000)
UTG (t555)
Button (t3920)
SB (t1525)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/club.gif.
UTG folds, Button calls t200, SB folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (t500) J/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/club.gif, T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets t275, Hero raises to t1800 (All-In), Button calls t1525.

Turn: (t4100) 9/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t4100) 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t4100

Results in white below:
Hero shows Js Tc (two pair, jacks and tens).
Button shows Ks Qd (straight, king high).
Outcome: Button wins t4100.

Do new people get ignored around here or is this a stupid question? (Or am I just too impatient?)

Ok, ok, its my first post and I'm eager to hear some opinions . . but in defense of my percieved impatience, some of the other posts of a similar age have drastically more views/replies.

Care to comment on the play?

My mistake. I'm looking at the timestamp of the LAST post thinking its the time the thread originated. Guess I'll check in the morning . . .

You cannot fold this imo.

Firstly, this is certainly not a sure ITM. It's likely, but not sure. UTG could quite easily double up next hand, you lose a couple of blinds and suddenly you're the short stack.

If, say, UTG only had 50 chips, then perhaps you could fold this.

But with him on 555 this is an easy all-in. The only hands that have you beat are a set and 9Q. Heads up you can't fear that. You got all your money in when you were ahead. If you'd won (which was very likely) you'd be look good for 1st place.

Folding here is a huge huge mistake. I like the way you played it. I'm not sure if I like the call by the big stack. But I know you played this hand perfectly. As one popular poster says on here:
F*CK third place.
