In the history of MLB, only 11 players have won back-to-back MVP's. I will give you the position of each player, you fill in the names.

P (1 player)
C (1 player)
1B (2 players)
2B (1 player)
3B (1 player)
SS (1 player)
OF (4 players)

As an interesting note, 4 of these players are not in the HOF.

Good question. I am going to guess at most of these.

C: Berra or Bench. I am sure it is not Campy

1st: Frank Thomas (not in HOF) Maybe Ruth but I dont think they had the award then, so I guess Jimmy Foxx

2nd: Joe Morgan

3rd: Mike Schmidt?

SS: No clue, want to say Ernie or Ozzie but I dont think so.

OF: Bonds (not in HOF)and he did it twice; and three years running. Only player to win in back to back on two different teams. Mantle, Maris, dont know the other one

P: No clue, and unless it happened before the advent of the Cy Young award, it should not matter.

The four who are not in the HOF?!?!Maris, BALCO err Bonds, Big Hurt, and who else?

I'm embarassed, because i used to know this one cold when there were only 9. Let's probe the old memory banks.

OF - Roger Maris, Dale Murphy, Barry Bonds, Mickey Mantle
2B - Joe Morgan
C - Yogi Berra
SS - Ernie Banks
P - Hal Newhouser
3B - Brooks Robinson
1B - Lou Gehrig, Raphael Palmeiro

Together, DonWaade and Kurn have provided all the names except one.

P - Newhouser (sp?)
C - Berra
1B - Foxx and Thomas
2B - Morgan
SS - Banks
3B - Schmidt
OF - Mantle, Maris, Dale Murphy, Bonds

Obviously Bonds and Thomas aren't in the HOF (yet), and Maris and Murphy haven't been inducted either.

Dale Murphy??? Really? Wow. I am not old enough to to know most of them, but I am old enough to know that. Damn. Nicely done Kurn, can you be my "phone-a-friend?"

can you be my "phone-a-friend?"

If you're actually going to be on the show, I'm jealous.

The first time I ever watched it, they were on some guy's $500,000 question and I knew the answer before seeing the choices.

The question: Who is the only woman to be Supreme Chief of the Cherokee nation?

ThaSaltCracker said the only thing that I would have thought of.

I lament to say that I am not on the show. Just a poor attempt at humor.

Sacajawea was a Shoshone.

The answer is Wilma Mankiller. Somehow that name stuck in my mind /images/graemlins/cool.gif
