First hand after we get to the final 3 in a $5 MTT. We just got through a long series of me and the other short stack taking turns making moves to stay alive and double up.

SB T100,000+
BB T35,000
Hero T6,100

Blinds are T1600/T3200

I push. I assume the SB will call with just about anything, forcing the middle stack to surrender his BB not wanting to risk trippling me up or going broke unless he had great cards. That's what happened, but the SB had JJ and busted me out.

I'm just about certain that the play was correct, but I just want to make sure from some of the number wizards here.

My quick calculations told me that if I won the hand I'd be just over T15K giving me a fighting chance for second and then, who knows?

I don't see why BB would fold, he's getting lots of value, the only way he should fold is if SB raised.

The BB wasn't a particularly savvy player from what I had seen. The huge stack was huge even before we got to the final table and the BB had been playing very tight, waiting for people to bust out. He had one AA hand that ended up four way with 3 all in and the big stack, when there were 7 or so left which gave him almost as many chips as the big stack and then basically check/folded his way to his current position. Sorry I didn't include that read with my post, I was just about certain that the BB would fold anything but AA, KK, AK or maybe QQ here.

ummm.. what did you have? or is the implication that you would push with anything?

Wow, I accidentally edited out. I had A5o. I'll edit that back in. Thanks for the catch.

Edit: Can't Edit it so I'll change this subject title.

With the blinds at 1600/3200, and only T6100 in your stack, everyone except Desdia's girlfriend pushes here.

I thought you were implying the cards didn't matter. With A5o its an easy easy push.

What about with any two?

ROTFL. Correct play here is clearly to wait for 99 then fold it.

Personally, I like the stop and go here. Flat call, push any flop. Gives him a chance to fold on flops he doesn’t like – he might lay it down if a K/Q hit on the flop.

you can't stop n go when your opponent is BB, you need to act first on the flop to use that play.

Don’t bother me with such small details, lol

Oops. Ok, so then I flat call, and see what blind does. Pushing preflop gets called 100% of time here, so I have to believe there is some fold equity from call then push.
