HoldEm Spread Limit Bets

In the $1-$4-$8-$8 Game, are the bets/raises capped at the limit of $4/$8? In other words, can I raise a bet beyond the pre flop/community cards of $4, and the same for the turn/river flop of $8? Again, my friends and I are novice players. Hope the ? is not confusing. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

You can bet anywhere from $1-$4 preflop and on the flop. You can bet anywhere from $1-$8 on the turn and river.

I believe you are also asking if you can raise the total amount above $4 or $8 depending on the round.

The answer is yes.

Player A bets say $2, you may then raise any amount for $2-4 (raises must be at least equal to the bet), thus making it $4-6 to go depending on how much you raised.
