An excellent decision was made in this matter. And this decision affects my finish in no way. This is Party Poker's email:

>>>>
Congratulations on your finish in the PartyPoker.com Million IV Semi-Finals.
We wanted to inform you of a decision that was made regarding this semi-final
tournament.

With 25 players remaining, player ędownalotę made a comment in the chat box
during a hand, and then proceeded to play the hand in a suspicious manner. An
investigation was done into the hand and the comments that the player made.

In the hand in question, player ędownalotę typed into the chat box:

ęDownalot: counter man Ięm going to raise then foldę. During this hand player
ędownalotę was playing from the small blind with a very large stack of chips.
Player ęCountermanę was playing from the large blind and had a small stack of
chips. Player ędownalotę proceeded to do as he said he would, by raising the
pot to $30,000, then folding when player ęCountermanę re-raised an additional
$5,400. In itself, folding in this position would be a questionable play by
many players, but the fact that player ędownalotę stated his intentions to, in
essence, give the other player chips is blatant cheating as per the rules
established on PartyPoker.com.

A decision was made, based on the evidence, to negate the players 9th place
finish and award him 25th place instead. ędownalotę will be awarded 25th Place
($672) instead of 9th Place (PPM IV Package). It was with 25 players remaining
that the hand in question took place.
Because player ędownalotę was moved from 9th to 25th, the following players
were also moved in order to fill in the spots vacated:

Player "spankster" was moved up to 22nd place and he would receive a PPM IV
package instead of 23rd place ($1,680).

Player "PizzaMaster" was moved up to 23rd place (from 24th) and he would
receive an additional $672.

Player "impact3" was moved up to 24th place (from 25th) to receive an
additional $336.

We hope that you appreciate our efforts to be an honest and fair site in the
best interest of our games and the safety of our playersę money. The situation
as it happened warranted a severe penalty, and taking away the PPM IV package
and awarding the offending player the position at the time of the incident was,
we believe, the only penalty that could be handed down.

Best Regards,
Investigations

Wow, they took action. Personally I would have given him last place, withheld all his funds and banned him from the site. Even so better than nothing.

That's awesome. From an earlier post with an email from Party, it didnt appear they were going to do anything about it. Glad to see they took appropriate action.

This is good news.

I hope they make this decision public in their site to discourage future cheaters.

Way to go Party /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have mixed feelings about this. I don't know why I just do.

I think the decision is excellent. I feel for downalot, and I'm glad he still receided 25th place money. He played very well down the stretch, and I don't believe for a minute he's an angle shooter or cheater in general terms, but what he did was very wrong.

He might well be a normal guy and not generally a cheat but I think these actions are disgraceful. Cheating is cheating IMO.

Yeah, I feel kinda bad too, 'cause I don't think he really knew what he was doing was so wrong. But his intentions were clear. He wanted to give the guy who suffered a bad beat (which wasn't really a bad beat since it was all in pre-flop) some extra chips so he would win instead of onlinechamp. Not knowing how serious that infraction is is no excuse.

My only question would be if he would still be dropped to 25th if he did the same thing without chating about it first?

That becomes a lot trickier decision for Party, I think. In that case I think they'd need to establish a prior pattern of collusion or some relationship between the two players. Failing that, I don't think they could/should do anything in that case. While not the likeliest explanation, that could definitely be a simple misclick or a just plain dumb fold.

Agreed...which scares the hell out of me.

They couldn't have done anything about it if he kept his mouth shut. If they penalized everyone who played poorly on the site there wouldn't be enough people to fill a table left.

Gotta love it. No matter where you go, people are taking shots at the Chimp.

Agreed. Just making the point that he gave up chips to help out another player in the tourny. Bad form and against the rules but I don't think Party can tell a player how to play his cards. Like El Diablo said they would have a hard time making a case without some prior evidence of wrong doing.

You're right if all bad folds got banned the site would be empty.

I was just making the point that it isn't as cut and dry as it seems. IF he shut up he would've gotten away with it. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Basically admitting to cheating cost the dude 10 grand...Probably the most expensive sentence he has ever typed.
