Actually I can't stand reality television, but here's an idea for a cool show...

Take some hot shot college athelete (Basketball or Football would probly be best) put cameras on him 24hrs/day. Follow him through draft day and contract negotiations and then maybe through his first season as a professional. Viewers would get an inside view of draft day, contract negotiations, practices, Groupies /images/graemlins/grin.gif etc. That would make for some good television.

Anyone think of anything to add or an idea for a different reality show?

They could come up with a clever title like: Hoop Dreams (okay, it's not about the college to pro transition, but same idea)

How about a game show like Hollywood Squares for kids.

Gary Coleman could host.

A lot of this material was covered in HBO's Arli$$.

Don't watch much of the "new TV" but what I've seen there isn't much reality in reality shows.

1. How about a Big Brother Game where you actually win by coming to your wits and leaving the house before anyone else?

2. How about a dating/marriage show (like the batchelor) where the "prize" is a hermaphodite (unbeknownst to the players).

3. Road Rules: The daring drivers run the Gauntlet of trying to get from the Commerce to Hollywood Park without using the freeway. At 11:00 p.m. each Friday night. In real time.

4. "Real Poker" Using a special room and table at Commerce, a field of "regular" $1/2 players is drawn from the Board and taken to the room (taken as they are).

They learn they will be playing a special, one-table tourney with first prize of $10,000; second is $7,500; third is $5,000. The only requirement is they have to "buy in for $500." They don't actually have to buy in, they just have to show the official that they have $500.

If the player does not have $500, they have ONE HOUR to scrounge it up...two conditions, they must leave the casino property to do this, and if they borrow from anyone, they must tell them ONLY that "it is for a poker game." Of course the cameras will follow them.

If they don't show the money to the offical in time, they get booted and another player is drawn.

Wouldn't it be more realistic if they had to borrow money inside the casino?" /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Of course, but it would ruin the game. There would be too many people "in the know" and they would understand that the $500 is only "show money" or they would readily back the huge overlay. That takes all the fun outta seeing the usual grunge try to scrape up 5 bills - (and only God knows where most of these people would be heading to get the dough)
