Someone explain to me why Phoenix - a perimiter-oriented team for several years that could never get over the hump - signs two guards for huge dollars (Nash 6yr/66M, QRichardson 6yr/49M) when they already have a potential star guard in Joe Johnson (17ppg, 5rpg, 4apg, 23 years old). You'd think a bruising forward would have been a better destination for the ~$50M they threw at Richardson, who couldn't shoot 40% if you paid him.
Next, we have what I suspect is largely an agent-screws-team situation with Boozer and Cleveland. Allegedly, the Cavs agreed not to pick up Boozer's 600k option for next season in exchange for him agreeing to sign some 6yr, $40M contract with them. That makes sense for both parties...but instead, Boozer's agent was having talks with Utah all along and will sign a contract with them for 6 years, $68M. Interesting...
