I'm going to Vegas and would like to play B&M poker for the very first time. I only have $100 and would like to know where the easiest and lowest limit tables are?

Thanks!

Look for a place with neon in the vicinity.

Forum favorites...
Excalibur: 1-3 spread and 2-6 spread
Mirage: 3-6
Bellagio: 4-8

Also check out...
Monte Carlo: 2-4 and 4-8
Luxor 2-4
Imperial Palace 2-4

Low limit games are almost by definition loose passive.

The Flamingo also does a 2-4 and 4-8, I don't know about 3-6.

Thanks guys!

I'll be staying at the Mirage but I've heard the tables there are pretty tight. And I'm afraid of playing 3/6 with a $100 bankroll... I think I'll look for 2/4 or 1/3 tables...

The last time I went to LV with a $100 bankroll was 1983.

The Flamingo has 2/4 and 4/8 Hold 'em and some stud (don't remember the limit???). Both HE games have 1 and 2 dollar blinds. Both games were good when I was there over the weekend of the 4th.

One of the dealers at the Flamingo mentioned that Bally's was setting up a poker room that would probably be up and running sometime in July. I'm sure they would have low limit.

That would put 3 low limit card rooms very close to each other (IP, Flamingo, Ballys).

The best loose/passive low-limit games are actually found off of the Strip at the Stations Casinos. They spread a 4/8 game with a half-kill, but it's not a true 4/8 because of the blind structure ($1 SB, $2 BB). Also, the players can limp in for $2. As a result, there are often seven or eight players seeing the flop for $2. Big unsuited cards are slightly devalued in this type of a game, but the pocket-pairs and straight-flush combos have great implied odds. You will frequently see hands like Q6o winning with two pair.

Not that I've tried it, but I have a hard time believing that the games at the Station Casinos are easier to beat than the games at the Palms and on the Strip. The same $1-$2 blind game is dealt at Palms and Monte Carlo. I'd have to think that locals are a little better at poker than the tourists.

Yeah, the $2-4 at the Flamingo was good. I think you need to anticipate a few more rocks across from you than you might have expected if you've never played in Vegas before. But generally, I'd guess 5 to a flop is common? Didn't see many maniacs. Lots of loose-passive, especially liked to play hands such as A/K-X suited from any position. Rocks tended to raise only on premium hands... Also, seemed as if it never dawned on any of the players that someone may have flopped a set.

Luxor $2-4 was good too. The $1-2 after the lesson is probably the easiest game on the strip.

I'm not sure about that; a lot of the locals are horrible too!

You got that right.

I won 2 huge pots (for 2/4 at least) by flopping sets. Took ~$150 with 77 and ~$120 with 66. I'm betting/raising/3-betting the whole way and people are coming along and betting/raising me right down to the river. Fun times /images/graemlins/smile.gif

My vote, especially with a $100 bankroll, is Excalibur (the 1-3 spread is your best bet). After you expand it (your bankroll) a little, I'd try Luxor. I've never played at The Orleans, but I hear those games are pretty juicy as well.

I think it also helped that I am young (I must look like a maniac or something)... There was no reason to do anything fancy, especially after flopping a set... People were just not all that observant... They'd call/seldomly raise with almost any hand that had some of the flop... I'd suspect that if you play half-way decent and picked up anything from the 2+2 type books, $100 is about all you'll need to sit comfortably for what seems to be all day at these $2-4 tables... and basically play break even, if not be up more often than not.

Raiser, happen to catch George Wallace at the Flamingo? That seemed to be a running joke (i.e., who the heck is George Wallace) at a lot of the tables I was at...

Imperial had a fire one day that weekend.. don't really know what, if anything, happened.

I didn't catch him, but I know he's very funny.

The night I was there, Excalibur set up an interest list for a 4/8 with half-kill. There was enough interest to spread a game, also with blinds of 1 & 2. Lotsa limpers who would almost never fold preflop to a raise once limped. The 1/3 there was so pathetic that even the retiree "rock" at the table saw 50% of flops.

The Mirage games were tighter than Excalibur. Hell, there are hookers in Vegas with 10 years on the job that are probably tighter than the Excalibur 1/3.

I concur wholeheartedly. There are quite a few locals in the Mirage 10/20 game who are terrible players.

The last time I was in Vegas, my roommate and I were drunk as hell. We saw a sign for "George Wallace: King of Yo' Mamma Jokes." I almost pissed myself.

Dan

P.S. He's actually funny? For real?

The Monte Carlo has a $2 blind game sometimes (no small blind). $100 is plenty for that game.

The Mirage 3/6 plays almost identical to PartyPoker .5/1...their games, from my experience, are exremely loose.

Heh. The 'King of Yo Mamma jokes'. I almost forgot that line. Thanks.

The Luxor spreads a 1/2 game after their training classes,
might be a good way to start.

However, $100 is plenty to play with at their 2/4 game.
Just look for a table with young guys wearing sunglasses.
Watch for players showing off chip handling tricks versus
a table with players accounting for position, pot size,
and raises.
