Live NL game with $1-2 blinds.
Short handed, 6 players, and I have $280 in front.
Villin is short stacked with about $100

UTG and MP limp, SB completes and I raise to $9 or $10 from the BB with Q /images/graemlins/spade.gifQ /images/graemlins/club.gif.

Only UTG calls (could be any two decent suited, low-mid pair, or two broadways. He is too loose and calls too much. Slightly aggressive, but not crazy by any means. I have played only twice with him though, so I dont know him that well.

Flop ($25 or so): 2 /images/graemlins/club.gif5 /images/graemlins/club.gif9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I bet $20, UTG calls.

Turn ($65):8 /images/graemlins/club.gif

Villian has about $65-70 left.

My play?

Bet $50, which pot-commits him, unless he bluffs too much. Then you should check and let him bluff at you. Sure, he will show you the flush occasionally, but his implied odds were not enough to call the flop with a flush draw. This doesn't mean that he can't have it, but it means that his money should be yours soon. And anyway, you have outs against small flushes.

If he had you covered at 140 BBs, you have to check and (usually) fold. Mumble something about the wrong damn suit as you do.
