View Full Version : 15-30 Big Blind Hand
15-30 hand at Taj. Im in the BB with 6-10o. 2 callers, the SB calls, I take the freeplay. Flop comes 7-9-9r. Checked around. Turn is an offsuit 8 giving me the straight. SB bets, I raise to $60. He calls. He checks the river (a blank), I bet, he calls. Would you bet the river for value or check it down? Would you raise the turn? Results to follow.
I turn over my straight expecting to win, but the SB turns over 10-J for the higher straight and I trapped myself. I just couldn't put him on anything but a 9. Would most people check the river here or make a value bet against probable trips? Would you have played his hand as passively as he did after I raised?
Jeff
If the players weren't too loose, I might have bet the flop. I think you'll pick up the hand enough to make thise a profitable semibluff.
On the turn, a raise won't knock out trip 9s, and I can't think of other hands that would call a single bet, so the raise seems correct.
I'd bet the river.
I think you played correctly, since you have to figure that you're ahead and a hand weaker than a full house can't raise.
But look at SB. SB has got to bet the flop here with two overcards and a gutshot.
On the turn, why didn't SB make it three bets? It is far more likely that you have trips rather than a full house.
Check call on the river seems right for SB.
