I use Texas Calculatem on PP and I notice that even when it is set to tight pre-flop play it recommends calling unraised A8o in LP. I have been folding this because I don't know the proper way to play it even if an ace flops, then what? -I can't bet into that with any confidence and if I check I will lose any credibility later when calling.

I guess my question is: What is the proper way to play A2o through A9o? For now I fold them unless I'm in a really small game.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds good to me.

If you called A8o in LP from now until eternity I seriously doubt you would ever notice an impact-either negative or positive--on your results.

No way. You will be negative, just a matter of how much. It's a dump hand except for certain situations (mostly NL freezeouts) where it has value. Oh, and shorthanded games it goes up in value also.

That depends on how well your opponents play, and whether or not you're skilled enough to dump top pair when you appear to be beaten.

You give A8o to Ted Forrest on the button in a full ring game and I guarantee he's not going to bleed chips with it.

It's a big turdball.

You missed my point.

The problem with A8o is that the guys who absolutely shouldn't be playing it are precisely the guys who are playing it.
